The Lovers depicts a man and woman standing beneath the angel Raphael, who blesses them from a radiant cloud. Behind the woman stands the Tree of Knowledge with the serpent coiled around it, while behind the man stands the Tree of Life bearing twelve flames. The volcanic mountain between them represents the eruption of passion and desire. This card echoes the Garden of Eden — innocence, temptation, and the profound choices that shape our lives. While often associated with romantic love, the Lovers card at its core is about choice — the kind of choice that defines who we are. It speaks to the alignment of values, the harmony that comes from choosing authentically, and the courage required to follow your heart even when the path is uncertain. When this card appears, a significant choice awaits — one that demands you honor your deepest truth.
